Why Coonoor?

Coonoor is a charming little town situated 19 km  from ooty.  It is a hideaway where history, time and tradition meet. Adding to this charm is Hotel Vivek  which  is spread over an acre cocooned  in the queen of hills 2km away from Coonoor town sharing its boundaries with lush greenery.

Coonoor is situated in the Western Ghats on the way from Coimbatore to Ooty. Coonoor unlike its counterpart Ooty has a salubrious climate throughout he year.

This town with old world charm has been a popular retreat from the british Colonial days. It is the mystic land of the Toda tribe. A Cosmopolitan society. It is nature at its verdant best and getaways that leave you aching for more.

Sims park Inaugurated in 1847 - famous for a variety of flowers shrubs and trees

Pomological station - Established in 1920 close by to Sims park - famous for Fruits like apples, peaches, plums etc.,

Pastures Institute - Opposite Sims Park, most prominent for the rabies vaccine produced here

Lambs Rock - Fantastic view into the valley below

Lady Canning's seat  -  A place of majestic scenic splendor overlooking lambs rock and The Droog, Dolphin's Nose Derives its name from the unique rock formation

Law's Fall - Pretty picnic spot

Kattery falls - One of the highest falls in the Nilgiris on Kendala Road.

The Droog - a.k.a Pakkasuran Kottai - a dilapidated fort with claims of having once been  a lookout past for Tippu Sultan. 6000 feet above sea level. A great area for trekking

Wellington - The erstwhile cantonment area with prominent clubs
